How do I use a Posture Pole?

The Ohana Health and Wellbeing team are often talking about the benefits of using a posture pole daily but what is, and how do I use a posture pole?

The Posture Pole, or SD Posture Correction Device is used to assist correcting upper body posture, help reduce forward head posture and rounding of the shoulders.

Forward head posture can contribute to a ‘wound-up’ state. This is known as Sympathetic Dominance. This may lead to symptoms such as;

  • Irritable bowel syndrome
  • Difficulty sleeping
  • Difficulty losing weight
  • Sensitivity to light
  • Sensitivity to sound
  • Infertility

How do I use a posture pole:

  1. Lie on your back with your head on the pole
  2. Tailbone on the pole
  3. Knees bent
  4. Feet flat and palms up
  5. Easy – arms at 5′ and 7 o’clock position
  6. Harder – arms at 3′ and 9 o’clock position with elbows bent

Use your posture pole at least two times a day, building up from 2-3 minutes to 15 minutes, at a time.
